Several of my good friends talked me into this.  Really, they did.  Because I'm not sure that anyone but me and those close friends will be interested.  You see, there's something rather personal about songlists.  So many time what works for one person leaves another going 'huh?'.  However, I'm fascinated by things that motivate authors and the thematic underlay of their stories; for me, songlists are one more interesting peek into Process.  So, should any of you wish to take a peek... well, here you are.

Links to the music lists are below.  The songs with lyrics are marked with an asterisk--links go directly to lyrics; ones without the asterisk are most likely instrumentals.  Or in Gaelic.

The music is not from any one particular genre; although I'm an old rocker (particularly when I have to get going in the morning), I tend more to folk and instrumentals when I write.  These songs have had many effects upon me: many I discovered and went: "Hey, that so fits here!" and others have been offered up by friends that say "Hey, that so fits this part!"; still others have always been there fermenting, while some started an avalanche of impressions and word-crafting by nudging at an unformed idea and sending it downhill.  Some are mood music, ones that I listened to over and over while I was writing a scene or ones that sounded to me like the soul of a character; in those the emotional quality of the music itself was of strictest importance.

Rest assured that you will find anachronisms and a bit of gender-bending, but if you've read my work you likely realise that neither of those particularly bother me if effect and meaning prevail.  In other words, get over it.  ;)
I've tried to chronologically list everything; there may still be songs I've forgotten or neglected to include.  I'll put them up when and if. And I'll add songs that apply to future chapters after those chapters have been posted to the site.
(A quick aside: yes, you will find quite a bit of music by Dan Fogelberg.  A good friend of mine has called him my 'Poet God', and she's not far wrong; he's been an inspiration to my writing for over thirty years.  So it's only fitting that he should take a large place here as well.)

I encourage everyone to support these artists by purchasing their work.
